Furniture by Donald Judd
Design + Function
Donald Judd's furniture designs have a Minimalist aesthetic of clean lines, common materials, and an "is-ness" that allows the object to simply be what it is. A chair, for Judd, is meant for sitting, not lounging. The perpendicular design of his chairs and benches, then, has as much to do with their clarity of function as design. His furniture is produced by his estate, and many of the same craftspeople who worked with Judd in his lifetime oversee the fabrication. Artware Editions offers the entire line of both metal and wood furniture, made to order, in their variety of colors and wood types.
